My mother treated us for dinner in this restaurant for her birthday. La Mangerie is a restaurant in the South of the Netherlands, in Venlo. The spot is a bit hidden in the city center.
When we entered the place we were friendly welcomed by the owner, a formal lady in her 60’s. The decor of the restaurant is homely. They also have a private diner room and a beautiful small garden full with flowers.
We had a three-course menu, which was more than enough, with the amuses included. We had smoked mackerel, fried langoustine, asparagus (soup), a mix of grilled fish and a strawberry dessert prepared in three ways.
The French-style cuisine is classic but presented with modern twists. Each dish tasted excellent and it is very reasonably priced (€ 35,- for a 3-course menu). At the end, they served a plate of sweets, which was just too much! With round bellies, we thanked my mom for a great evening of food and fun and drove back to Amsterdam. We rate La Mangerie with an 8.8 out of 10. I am sure we will come back here one day!
