Shibuya crossing and restaurant Uoriki kaisen (Tokyo, 2014 #1)

Japanese rail pass
After a smooth but long flight, we finally touched ground at Japan. The sun gives a lovely autumn heat. After getting our Japanese rail passes, we went by ‘monorail’ and a local metro (inokashira line) to our AirBnB stay in the relax and cozy Setagaya (世田谷区) neighbourhood. That took us almost two hours, but we felt relaxed.

When we arrived at the Air BnB apartment, we were greeted by the owner, a friendly French guy who has lived in Japan for more than 25 years. He showed us the apartment and then we were ready for some first explorations.

(渋谷区) Shibuya crossing, Tokyo

We were almost awake for 36 hours, but we had to eat something. We decided to go to a restaurant near Shibuya crossing. Of course, we took our time to watch the bizarre view of probably the busiest crossing in the world, from a Starbucks in a nearby building, from which we had a great view.

Restaurant review: Uoriki kaisen at the basement of the Tokyu department store.

The sushi restaurant Uoriki kaisen is located on the basement floor of the Tokyo department store, with many small delicious food shops. The department store has an info point on every level, where friendly service desk people take the effort to walk with you to the place you are looking for!

In this small restaurant, we ordered two sushi combos (they had an English menu too). The fish was silky smooth. All very delicious and not comparable with the sushi restaurants in The Netherlands. The cook made the food rapidly by hand, just in front of you. What an awesome place, in such a busy area. The price was around 4000 yen for two people including miso soup and Japanese green tea, which is good value for money. We rate this place with an 8.5/10. It is now time to sleep.
